Hey guys, I would like to ask you for some help.

i need to write a letter of motivation for a practical training during my appranticeship. I'm allowed to go for 7 week to irland! The 7 weeks gonna be split up in 3 weeks language course and 4 weeks working in a hotel.

I started already and would like to post it as well as soon I'm finished.
I googled it already and found some helpful sides, but I'm always looking forward for more tips.

Thank you for your help!

Okay, know my LoM
Letter of Motivation for the project “XXXXXXXX” from the 28th of June till 15th of August 2010.

Dear Sir and Madam,

In June 2007 I left school with a graduation in business and public administration. Due to the fact that I didn't know what kind of work I'd like to do I left to work and travel a year in New Zealand.
Just after a few months I started working in a small restaurant and found my passion for the business. I worked hard and learned some things, but understood fast that working in hotel and catering industry means a lot more than to serve customers.

The year was over too soon and I had to go back to Germany. But I took the passion with me and also the intention to start a carrer in hotel and catering industry.
I applied for an appranticeship training position in a good hotel and started the same year. I enjoy learning in school so much but the longing for more and especially to get to know different countries grows every day. Searching the internet helped me to find the project and I was really glad that my training supervisor allowed me to apply for it.

Now I hope that you give me a chance to get to know a new country and maybe a different way to work. Also to strenghen my language skills and to help me to get another step closer to my dream that I can travel the world in my job and build something on my own when I find the right place.

Your's sincerly,

Vicky

thx

Hello Vicky or Micky 😉

as I'm short in time I'll just post a few ideas ...
In June 2007 I left school with a graduation in business and public administration. Due to the fact that I didn't know what kind of work I'd like to do (Never write you didn't know what to do! Explain it with your passion and eagerness to explore the world while you're still young or something similar. Make something up, but find a reason! ) I left to work and travel a year in New Zealand.
Just after a few months I started working in a small restaurant and found my passion for the business. I worked hard and learned some things I would say you learned a lot of things ... 😉 Maybe you even can give some examples? ), but understood fast that working in hotel and catering industry means a lot more than to serve customers.

The year was over too soon and I had to go back to Germany. But I took the passion with me and also the intention to start a carrer in hotel and catering industry.
I applied for an appranticeship training position in a good hotel ("a good hotel"?? Define it ... there are superior hotels, luxury hotels, four and five star hotels, ...) and started the same year. I enjoy learning in school so much but the longing for more and especially to get to know different countries grows every day. Searching the internet helped me )That doesn't matter. You found the project - period.) to find the project and I was really glad that my training supervisor allowed me to apply for it (Do you see the difference? "my training supervisor allowed me to do" or "my training supervisor supported me ..." 😉 ).

Now I hope that you give me a chance to get to know a new country and maybe a different way to work. Also to strenghen my language skills and to help me to get another step closer to my dream that I can travel the world in my job and build something on my own when I find the right place.

Wow, you're right!

Thank you so much Alex!

Okay, here with changes.. buut.. I don't really like how often I mention customer in the first part... 😕
Dear Sir and Madam,

In June 2007 I left school with a graduation in business and public administration. Due to the fact that I am still young I wanted to see something of the world. I left to work and travel a year in New Zealand.
Just after a few months I started working in a small restaurant and found my passion for the business. Here I worked hard and had my first lesson with customers and how to handle difficult customers. How some people appreciate a nice conversation and how some others just want to know everything about the menue. But I understood fast that working in hotel and catering industry means a lot more than to serve customers and have conversations with them.

The year was over too soon and I had to go back to Germany. But I took the passion with me and also the intention to start a carrer in hotel and catering industry.
I applied for an appranticeship training position in a five star hotel and started the same year. I enjoy learning in school so much but the longing for more and especially to get to know different countries grows every day. After finding the project I was really glad that my training supervisor supported me.

Now I hope that you give me a chance to get to know a new country and maybe a different way to work. Also to strenghen my language skills and to help me to get another step closer to my dream that I can travel the world in my job and build something on my own when I find the right place.

Your's sincerly,

I would be glad if you have time to give it another look.. thx 😉

Your letter still sounds "german" and I didn't mean you to take my suggestions word by word ...

Guests are customers, aren't they?

Now I hope that you give me a chance to get to know a new country and maybe a different way to work. Also to strenghen strengthen my language skills and to help me to get another step closer to my dream that I can travel the world in my job and build something on my own when I find the right place. Only post it, if it matches the project's aims. If not, find something better ...
